Academic Procedure Questions: Registration

About 5 weeks from the end of the semester, course books will become available in the Registrar’s office in Seidlin Hall.

Spend some time figuring out which classes you need. Which ones are prerequisites for classes you want later on? Are some offered only occasionally? Also, think about your personal schedule – morning person? Post lunch napper? Try to match your day with your best times. Keep in mind that some required classes will always be offered at the same time every semester, so you don’t always have much choice. Use your advisor – they know the classes you need and may suggest other classes you would find enjoyable or useful. They will also remind you of University requirements such as PE, writing and others.

To actually create your schedule use the grid they give you – it will help prevent class overlap. Once everything fits together your advisor will have green bubble sheets. Fill them out completely. Don’t forget things like labs, seminars, discussions, musical groups or honor’s classes. You and your advisor need to sign these sheets. Turn them into the Registrar’s the week they are due. You’ll get a preliminary schedule near the end of the semester. Changes can be made if necessary.
