Academic Procedure Questions: Co-Op

The co-op is a unique opportunity to gain insight and experience in the working world. Through Co-op, students forge ties with industry, as well as apply classroom knowledge to tackle real life problems. Co-ops generally run a summer and a semester in duration, but they can be shorter (5 to 8 months). While working in industry you’ll be earning a competitive salary; and upon completion of your Co-op you’ll receive two credits toward your degree which is counted towards a technical elective. The Universities’ Career Development Center (CDC) has a thorough program designed to inform, prepare, and place students interested in Co-op.
