Academic Procedure Questions: Signing Up for an Independent Study
Independent studies are most often available to upperclass students and can be done with any of the faculty in the CEMS program. After discussing the plan for your independent study with the faculty member, you must register for it through the Registrar's office. In addition to registering for the independent study along with the rest of your classes at the end of previous semester, a separate form must be filed. This form can be obtained at the Registrar's office and serves as an outline of the goals of the class and the work that must be completed. After filling this out with the faculty member and obtaining the signature of the dean of the CEMS program, the form should be returned to the Registrar's office. It is then your responsibilty to complete the work outlined on the independent study plan and to communicate frequently with the professor you are working with.
